Joel Swanton will be representing Forest2Market and speaking at the upcoming “Families in the Forest” conference sponsored by Olympic Logging Conference in Victoria, British Columbia (BC) from April 25 -27, 2018. The 73rd annual event is being held at the Fairmont Empress Hotel in Victoria.
Joel is scheduled to speak on Thursday, April 26 during the second morning session at 9:45 a.m., and his presentation will focus on a general North American log and fiber update as well as regional comparisons between the Pacific Northwest and the US South markets, including:
- Sawmill decline over the last decade
- Housing market and global lumber supply/demand
- Delivered sawtimber costs
- Global softwood fiber prices and end product demand
- Regional exports and global wood supply trends
The Olympic Logging Conference brings together people who are involved in the forest products industry of Western Washington State and offers a forum where attendees can network with one another. Roughly 275 people attend the conference, all from various industry backgrounds: timber purchasers and sellers, log conversion representatives, logging and log trucking contractors and private and public landowners.
