Texas Fire Safety Public Announcements

Many states in the South are experiencing drought conditions this year.  These dry conditions pose significant threats to timberland:

  • Wildfires, tree diseases and pests thrive.
  • Seedlings don't thrive, and often they don't survive.

Timberland owners pay the price: in drought-stricken East Texas, lost timber volume from damaged trees and seedlings cost timberland owners in excess of $53.5 million this year.

To help avert additional fires, the Texas Forest Service and others have released a series of public service announcements aimed at preventing forest fires and encouraging people to watch for fire setters.
